The hottest hair technique for every hair colour and texture
Balayage has been around for a while, so what's all the hype about? When done great, balayage creates amazing looking hair, no matter the length, colour, or texture. Balayage has softer, less noticeable regrowth lines than traditional highlights, the idea being less is more when creating soft, natural looks. There's no stripey look like you can get with foil highlights.
But what is balayage? Balayage is a technique stylists use to give you natural-looking highlights. Balayage is a French word that means to sweep or paint; it's a highlighting technique. Whereas Ombré means to shadow, and is actually a gradient of color (a seamless gradiation from darker to lighter), not a technique , balayage begins at the tips and feathers up the top. Highlights on another hand start at the root and get painted down to the tips.
Balayage can be done many different ways, freehand in open air with clay lighteners, or with foils, foam sheets and or plastic wrap.
